Four Promises

Move People

You will learn how to provide an experience for your listeners of the theme you are talking about. These are the skills of “performative speech,” targeting a listener’s will or desire.   Information alone does not move. Facts are important but they are one of the least important elements in the art of persuasion.  The ultimate persuasion is to give the listener an experience of the topic being talked about. Identifying with an audience is crucial too. As the great comedian Ken Dodd stressed, “Never tell a joke at an audience – tell it with them.”  It is the same for all speech that moves. We learn not to speak at, but with, and in that oneness real persuasion is possible. I use the methods of unique “emotional quadrilaterals” in the worlds of business, political and religious speechmaking, which target the deepest emotional life of the listener.

Be signifiant

You will never be trivial again. This is important because even if you think you are talking about something profoundly serious, for example, the truth of a grand cause, it is still quite common to miss the profound core and provide a trivial application.   One must articulate at a level that brings existential meaning to the hearer. We link this teaching to current models of human flourishing by means of a unique “Epic Grid,” which ensures that all speech making involves the four dimensions of life in all its fullness. As a modern revolutionary once said, “Don’t give me your revolution if you want to change the price of a melon.”  Great speakers move in epic dimensions.

Be interesting

You will hold the attention of your audience. We teach not only the power of storytelling, but the technique of tension creation which underpins story. Not everything fits into a story form. We teach a method which harnesses the processes of the human body so that the listener physically cannot tune the speaker out. This is produced especially through the mastery of the T.C.R. technique, using the principle, “To hold attention…create a tension!”  In this respect, we teach how to successfully “speed prepare.”  Not everyone has the time to prepare a great speech and we offer fast ways to always be interesting even when preparation time is at a minimum. This is perfect especially for busy business leaders.

Your voice

Most speakers wish to sound and look like someone else. It is okay to have models, but we are not born to be clones of someone else - we are born to be ourselves. This uniqueness not only extends to the patterns on our fingertips, but to our looks, lungs, and larynx. We help clients discover their own style and voice and enable them to trust and celebrate it. This often involves a wonderful journey of self-discovery. Internal voices of self-deprecation and dismissal are confronted as leaders realise that what they thought was a fault or a weakness is often a strength. This transforms confidence and brings great health benefits too.
